WHAT IS COUNSELLING?

Counselling is a process (which Amanda likes to call a journey) that focuses on enhancing your psychological well-being, such that the you are able to reach your full potential.  This is achieved by Amanda facilitating your personal growth, development, and self-understanding, which in turn empowers you to adopt more constructive life practices.

 

You are able to openly express yourself in a non-judgmental environment.  Amanda acts as a sounding board to allow you the opportunity to understand where you are at, where you want to go and how to get there. 

 

Amanda provides you with the skills and strategies to learn to cope with and overcome impasses that are causing you to be currently 'stuck' in a situation that may not be ideal.

THE PROCESS TO EXPECT

  • The general counselling process that the counsellor will follow is:

  • Background information collection

  • Identification of the core issues

  • Case formulation

  • Goal setting for the therapeutic process

  • Implementation of intervention

  • Evaluation of intervention, and 

  • Closure
